How Can a Dietitian Help People with Cancer?
Dietitians play a key role on your health care team by helping you get the best nutrition possible. Good nutrition helps your body handle cancer treatments better and with fewer side effects. Our registered dietitians are experts in cancer nutrition and make recommendations based on proven research. They can help you with a variety of nutrition topics, including:
- Finding the foods your body needs
- Coping with side effects such as lack of appetite or trouble swallowing
- Getting to a healthy body weight
- Finding answers about vitamins and supplements
- Guidelines for cancer prevention after treatment
Nutrition counseling is free of charge to Huntsman Cancer Institute patients.
