Â鶹ѧÉú¾«Æ·°æ is proud to announce the fourth year of its partnership with Sundance Film Festival as it assumes a new role as the Official Health & Wellness Sponsor.
This year, U of U Health will offer a series of wellness initiatives throughout Park City and Salt Lake City for Sundance Film Festival team members, volunteers, partners, and attendees alike to help minimize stress and maximize health during the Festival.
Since its official establishment in 1985 by Robert Redford, the Sundance Film Festival has united lovers of film from across the globe in an effort to spotlight emerging filmmakers, provide a platform for fresh perspectives in media, and bridge the gap between storytellers and the people who live them.
Each winter, more than 100,000 Festival-goers descend upon Park City, Salt Lake City, and across the state of Utah to screen, support, and celebrate the year's acclaimed films. Those visitors are supported by more than 3,000 dedicated staff members and volunteers from around the world.
To enhance their experience, U of U Health will focus this year on two central goals: expanding access to its established wellness initiatives, including free yoga classes and massages, and hosting new offerings like organized walks and runs that will help attendees make the most of their time in Utah.
Before the Festival, experts from U of U Health's Trauma Outreach and University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) teams provided staff and volunteers with first aid and de-escalation training. During the festival, U of U Health will provide on-site support for Festival-goers and the SFF20 team with a #10DaysofWellness social media campaign that provides mindfulness, movement, and nutrition resources. In addition, U of U Health will host several Staff & Volunteer Wellness Hubs in various Sundance Film Festival venues.
Each year, in collaboration with Sundance Film Festival, U of U Health hosts a panel discussion at the Filmmaker Lodge on Main Street that focuses on the power of combining storytelling with science and medicine. In 2019, U of U Health screened the film , an award-winning documentary on the genetic testing that uncovered a life-saving treatment for young Utahn Tyler Teuscher.
This year, Kenneth Paul Rosenberg, director of 2019 U.S. Documentary Competition film , will moderate a panel discussion with U of U Health experts about Destigmatizing Mental Illness Through Storytelling, Science, and Philanthropy.
"From the trainings they provided to Festival staff to the ongoing wellness program they provide to our volunteers, staff, and patrons, U of U Health has proven to be an essential partner in enabling us to put on a successful Festival each year," said Betsy Wallace, Managing Director of Sundance Institute. "We're proud to make Utah our home and to partner with this great local organization to help ensure the health, safety, and wellness of everyone participating in the Festival."
