Meet Deegan Frisby

顿别别驳补苍鈥檚 NICU adventure began in the early morning hours of July 11, 2015 where he came into this world at 27 weeks gestation, weighing in at just 2 pounds, 5 ounces the University of Utah Hospital.

His entry into this world came with a rough start in the form of an emergency C-section after his mother developed placenta abruption.

Deegan was born with his right arm extremely bruised and swollen due to his arm entering the birth canal immediately before the C-section was performed.

His right arm was three times bigger than his left. The long-term effects of this at the time were unknown.

Fortunately, our little fighter has full mobility and use of his right arm and hand, which he will gladly demonstrate by throwing a ball when he helps his older brother practice baseball.

Despite his fighting nature, 顿别别驳补苍鈥檚 NICU stay was not without its complications. He developed necrotizing enterocolitis and ended up having a nasogastric tube placed. 顿别别驳补苍鈥檚 story would have been cut short if it was not for the incredible nurses and staff this hospital鈥檚 NICU provides. With early detection and close monitoring, our little fighter once again overcame his obstacles with no long-term effects.

Seemingly undeterred by his challenges early on, fast forward seven years and Deegan is so full of life and is a true treasure to his family. Even though small in stature he makes up the difference in heart. It is with sheer gratitude we thank the University of Utah Hospital鈥檚 NICU team for their outstanding concern and care for Deegan.
