Thank You for Your Interest in Supporting the Moran Eye Center
Our goal at the John A. Moran Eye Center is to provide the best eye care available while finding better treatments and cures for blinding conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, cataracts, and cornea and external eye diseases. With more than 40 ophthalmologists, 13 optometrists, and 34 research faculty members, we have specialists in every field of vision care and research.
Forty years ago when he began his tenure at the University of Utah, Dr. Randall J Olson envisioned a world-class eye center that could provide hope, understanding, and treatment to the people of Utah. In the video below, learn more about the history of the Moran Eye Center and Dr. Olson's vision for the next 40 years.
Today, contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations allow us to remain on the cutting edge of research. Our generous donors also help us provide world-class care, both to our patients at home and worldwide through our outreach program.
Faculty also train 12 residents, four interns, and up to 13 fellows a year in one of the nation鈥檚 most selective and highly-regarded academic programs.
We aim to make a lasting difference in patients' lives by becoming one of the premier ophthalmic research institutions in the world. This is only possible with the private financial support of friends and donors like you. Please consider contributing today.

Your gifts are so deeply appreciated and make such an enormous difference. We pledge to keep you well informed of how they are being used. You may personalize your gift by designating a specific area of support: research; translational medicine; local and international outreach; or greatest need.

Grateful Patient Program 鈥 We Make a Great Team

More Ways To Give
Endowments
An endowment is a permanent source of financial support to maintain nationally recognized excellence in Moran's research, education, and outreach missions. An endowed gift can be named and is an excellent way of honoring someone important to you. Endowed faculty positions are particularly powerful incentives for attracting and retaining exceptional physicians and scientists and, consequently, raising the visibility of the department and the university. Endowed gifts are invested by the university to generate annual income, and a portion of the income is used to fulfill the donor's wishes. The balance of interest and the appreciation remain in the fund so that the principle continues to grow and keep pace with inflation.
Matching Gifts
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please visit , or you can contact your employer's Human Resources Department.
Memorial and Honor Gifts
Many opportunities exist to make gifts to the Moran Eye Center in memory of or to honor a loved one.
Securities and Property Gifts
Individuals who transfer stock or property can receive tax deductions and avoid capital gains. As always, consult your tax advisor before transferring stocks, bonds, or property.
Pledges
A pledge can be paid over three to five years. This allows the donor to commit to a larger gift amount while enjoying the tax benefits of the actual amount given in a specific calendar year.
Leave a Legacy
For some of our donors, an outright gift is not the best option. Planned gifts can offer significant estate-tax and income benefits, while at the same time allowing donors to make larger gifts to the university than would be otherwise possible. This option enables you to leave a portion of your estate to the Moran Eye Center through your will, your trust, or your life insurance policy. For more information on planned gifts, .
