  • Dr. Spivak joined the faculty of the University of Utah Department of Internal Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases) in the fall of 2011 after completing residency and fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He cares for people living with HIV infection as a member of the Infectious Diseases Clinic and attends on the inpatient Infectious Diseases consult service at the University of Utah Hospital. Dr. Spivak teaches in the medical school, mentors post-graduate trainees, conducts translational research on HIV persistence and eradication, and is a co-founder and leader of Utah's first and only free HIV prevention clinic. He is a scientific member of the NIH AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG) and is leading two interventional clinical trials studying HIV persistence and aging in the ACTG network.
